Safestore hires Logicor CFO

Self-storage provider Safestore has appointed Simon Clinton as chief financial officer.

Clinton was previously chief financial officer at Logicor, which he joined in 2017 as director of group finance ahead of his promotion a year later.

Before Logicor, he spent more than nine years in senior finance positions at Tesco. Prior to that, he worked at Diageo from 2000 to 2007.

Clinton will join Safestore on 11 March. The company said he will be appointed as a director to the board by no later than 31 May, following a brief induction and onboarding programme.

Clinton replaces Andy Jones, who announced his intention to retire as CFO last year. Jones has agreed to remain with Safestore for an appropriate handover period.

Chairman David Hearn said Clinton’s appointment followed “an extensive search process across a diverse range of candidates”.

Hearn added: “As an accomplished finance leader, I am confident the business will greatly benefit from the depth of his experience across a number of relevant industry sectors.”

Chief executive Frederic Vecchioli said: “Simon will be an excellent addition to the Safestore executive team. He brings highly complementary sector knowledge and skills, particularly in European real estate, which will be invaluable to Safestore as we further our growth and expansion.”

Clinton said he aimed to build on Safestore’s “exceptional platform and deliver further long-term value creation”.
