MORNING NEWS: WeWork boss checks in to bring hotelier to London

Good morning. Here’s your daily round-up of the latest news and views from EG and a collection of industry-relevant headlines from the nationals.

WeWork’s former head of international real estate has been enlisted by Dutch hospitality group Zoku to help it break into the London market.

Patrick Nelson, who left WeWork in 2022 after almost a decade at the co-working company, is joining Zoku’s growth and innovation team. Zoku delivers “hybrid hotels” providing accommodation and co-working space.

Zoku said Nelson would help the business make its “next big leap in London”.

Guitar giant Gibson is also making a giant leap in London with a new experiential 4,500 sq ft store opening just off Oxford Street. The new shop – its first in the UK – will not just sell the famous guitars, but have weekly gigs and panel discussions in a professional events space and run exhibitions.

And in this week’s EG Interview, former Palace Capital boss Neil Sinclair shares his advice for a long and rewarding career. Some 18 months after having to step down from the company he founded and ran for 12 years, 80-year-old Sinclair is back in business with a new venture.
