Developer RER Kingston is looking to sell a £250m GDV residential-led development site that was formerly home to Surrey County Council’s headquarters.
The developer has appointed Savills and Levy Real Estate to find buyers for the 5.2-acre Kingston site.
The site consists of former county hall buildings, including a Grade II listed property, as well as two new courtyard squares and two new apartment buildings. Planning consent is in place for 254 private, 16 shared ownership and 20 affordable rent flats.
The development opportunity also includes 47,448 sq ft of flexible floor space, 69 car parking spaces and three acres of landscaped gardens.
RER Kingston previously teamed up with Revcap to buy the site in 2021, transacting above its £20m guide price at the time.
Rob Pollock, director of London development at Savills, said: “With its scale and heritage, Surrey County Hall offers the opportunity to deliver a unique development in south-west London that might seem more at home in central London, and consequently appeal to buyers across the city.
“With world-famous attractions such as Hampton Court and Wimbledon tennis club within striking distance of the property, combined with the obvious kerb appeal, we expect that the ultimate developer of the property will set a new record for pricing in Kingston.”
Matt Sharman, residential development and investment partner at Levy Real Estate, said: “Rarely does such an opportunity come to the market. The scheme provides two extensive landscaped courtyards, close proximity to both the River Thames and Kingston and an opportunity to create a unique, high-quality scheme set against the backdrop of Hampton Court Palace and Bushey Park.”
