Stockport to approve £350m data centre

Plans to develop a £350m data centre have been recommended for approval by planning officials at Stockport Council’s Heatons and Reddish Area Committee.

Kao Data’s proposals include a 40MW facility powered completely by renewable energy off Kenwood Road in Reddish.

The 280,000 sq ft scheme includes demolishing an existing 160,100 sq ft warehouse on the 10-acre plot to develop a three-storey data centre.

It also includes the provision of technical spaces, offices, plant rooms, ancillary/support and external plant gantries.

The new facility is planned to become operational in late 2025.
