Prologis leases distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead

Prologis UK has signed Food Service Logistics at its DC4 logistics facility in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

The firm will occupy the 161,134 sq ft warehouse on a 15-year lease from June this year, following refurbishment. The works will bring the building in line with Prologis UK’s standard, with EPC A rating targeted.

In addition, the refurbishment will focus on increasing and enhancing the offices, installing new LED and all-electric heating alongside a number of wellbeing features, including pockets of greenery and communal break-out areas.

Gillian Scarth, director of capital deployment and leasing at Prologis UK, said: “With the unit undergoing refurbishment, we are able to offer the customer a product, equipped to service their needs, while avoiding embodied carbon that would occur during construction of a new warehouse.”

Kevin Hopkins, chief executive at Food Service Logistics, said: “With our operations already well established in the South East logistics market, the decision to move into Prologis UK unit was unanimous.”

The move is expected to support Food Service Logistics’ servicing of its national contract with Starbucks.

The news comes shortly after Prologis unveiled plans to deliver five new distribution facilities at its Hemel Hempstead scheme, growing the park by more than 280,000 sq ft.

CBRE acted for Prologis UK; Knight Frank acted for FSL.
