The UK Space Agency is set to relocate its headquarters to Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Didcot, Oxfordshire.
The government body will vacate Polaris House in Swindon, Wiltshire, and occupy a new 10,500 sq ft office in the Quad Two building in June this year.
The move comes as the agency seeks to collaborate with the space sector, with more than 100 space organisations based on the campus, including Astroscale, Oxford Space Systems, European Space Agency, the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s RAL Space and the Satellite Applications Catapult.
Stuart Grant, chief executive at Harwell Campus, said: “[The UK Space Agency] presence cements the campus’ position as an international space hub and will help leverage synergies, drive innovation, and foster partnerships with key industry players.”
Paul Bate, chief executive at the UK Space Agency, added: “The UK space sector is growing rapidly and moving closer to the industry we serve will boost growth, improve relationships with regional organisations and support a strong, diverse and resilient sector.
“We have seen a significant rise of space organisations across the UK and it is crucial that we nurture skills and expertise, both established and emerging, to ensure we continue this journey.”
Harwell Campus, which is operated by Brookfield spin-off ARC, is home to more than 250 organisations working across health, space, energy and quantum sectors.
The campus is undergoing £300m expansion which will see the delivery of more than 440,000 sq ft of new laboratory and research and development space.
