Hastings and Rother in East Sussex are next in line for a £40m investment to upgrade their towns, community centres and build more affordable homes.
Each area is set to receive £20m in levelling up funding to deliver new housing and leisure facilities.
In Hastings, some £13m will be used to deliver affordable homes, with a further £9m spent building a new leisure centre, releasing land on the old site for more than 50 new homes.
Hastings Borough Council leader Julia Hilton said: “This funding means we are able to expand our housing acquisition programme and also make sure that a site earmarked for affordable housing can be built to our very high energy efficient specification and under our control.”
The £480m levelling up partnerships programme was announced in the 2023 Spring Budget, with 20 areas in England and four locations in Scotland set to benefit from the funding.
