Obayashi and Sellar begin consultation on 60 Gracechurch Street revamp

Japan’s Obayashi Corporation and developer Sellar have begun a public consultation on proposals to deliver a landmark sustainable office building at 60 Gracechurch Street, EC3.

The 130,000 sq ft building is on the western boundary of the City cluster of tall buildings in the Square Mile’s financial district.

The development aims to deliver offices with a high sustainability credentials that meet demand for high-quality workspace. This will include focus on collaboration, health and well-being to enable businesses to attract and retain talent.

The duo plans to begin the redevelopment once vacant possession is secured in 2026, subject to planning consent.

OPUK, Obayashi’s UK subsidiary, acquired 60 Gracechurch Street in March last year from KGAL. It also owns Bracken House and a majority stake in 20 Gracechurch Street.

Danish architectural practice 3XN is leading the design of the scheme.
