Bidwells and DTRE launch tenant hunt for Cambridge’s Alchemy

Family run life sciences developer and investor Gen Two has picked Bidwells and DTRE to lead on the marketing and leasing strategy for the Alchemy Campus in Fowlmere, South Cambridge.

The 125,000 sq ft life sciences scheme secured planning consent in November last year, with construction on site expected to start towards the end of 2024. The campus is expected to be ready for occupation from the second quarter of 2026.

Gen Two has proposed to retain and reuse two of the five existing two-storey buildings located on site to provide flexible labs and offices. The scheme, known as Alchemy, will comprise eight self-contained laboratory suites ranging in size from 10,000 sq ft to 20,000 sq ft which could be combined to provide larger headquarter facilities.

The developer has also upgraded power to the site to target biotech occupiers and scale-up companies focused on the full spectrum of research and development.

The scheme is aiming to secure BREEAM Excellent certification upon completion.

Max Bryan, head of laboratory and office agency at Bidwells, said: “The approved masterplan which includes both back to frame redevelopment and new build is a sustainable approach and will bring design quickly to market with plans for amenity and connectivity of the site from day one.”

Jamie Green, partner at DTRE, added: “Alchemy will allow businesses to focus on science without the headache of finding a suitable building.

“Cambridge continues to attract investment into an innovation ecosystem, and this development is sure to be an integral part of that moving forward.”
