B&M takes former Wilko store at Manchester Arndale

Discount retailer B&M has taken a five-year lease on a 30,000 sq ft shop in Manchester Arndale.

The store – due to open later this year – was formerly occupied by Wilko.

The arrival of B&M follows a flurry of leasing activity at Manchester Arndale over the past few months, including retail lettings to Space NK, Dune, Moss, North Face and Sunglass Hut. Black Sheep Coffee, Krispy Kreme, and Lazy Sundae were also recent additions.

M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual are joint asset managers of Manchester Arndale, while Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners are the centre’s retained letting agents, with Green & Partners retained lease advisory agent.

Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “We place great importance in having a truly mixed offer and its fantastic to be able to bring in a retailer that offers a wide array of products at accessible prices. From fashion brands to discount retailers, its clear operators across the board have long-term confidence in the centre.”
