The joint venture between Lipton Rogers and Galileo Labs has started searching for sites within the UK’s Golden Triangle, as part of its drive to create a £1.5bn life sciences portfolio.
The partners have engaged with Savills and DTRE in the past week to tour sites measuring between 100,000 sq ft and 300,000 sq ft. Cambridge is understood to top the list of targeted locations, followed by Oxford and London.
The partnership launched in April this year with the ambition to amass a portfolio that provides purpose-built spaces to start-ups and grow-on life sciences companies. Lipton Rogers will develop the lab spaces, while Galileo Labs will operate them.
Developments in urban locations near universities are on the wishlist, so that sites can offer easy access to academic resources, talent and collaboration opportunities.
The initial plan is to deliver “plug and play” laboratory facilities, providing flexible leasing options across spaces measuring 1,500 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft.
