The Crown Estate has named a new public realm director, hiring a former placemaking boss from Edinburgh Council.
Architect and designer Daisy Narayanan spent three years at City of Edinburgh Council, latterly as head of placemaking and mobility. Before that she was director of urbanism at Sustrans, a charity that acts as custodian of the National Cycle Network.
She sits on the board of Architecture and Design Scotland, contributes to the evidence group of Scotland’s Climate Assembly, and is on the judging panel for the Scottish and National Transport Awards. Her work on inclusive urban planning was recognised with an MBE in 2022.
Kristy Lansdown, head of development at the Crown Estate, said: “As we continue to shape the public spaces across our portfolio , Daisy is a fantastic addition to our team at the Crown Estate. She brings a wealth of experience across many different sectors, and will help us shape and deliver sustainable, resilient and inclusive places and public realm for the benefit of future generations.”
