Plastic recycling firm DeepTech Recycling will be the first company to settle in Origin at Wootton Science Park, Oxfordshire.
The recently built CL2 laboratory building, which spans 9,268 sq ft across two floors, has been purposefully designed for science and technology SMEs.
DeepTech has taken 2,366 sq ft to relocate its technology and projects staff to be closer to Oxford’s ecosystem, while the firm’s business and finance teams will continue to operate from offices in London.
The deal was signed on a five-year lease at £40 per sq ft.
Marvine Besong, managing director and chief technology officer at DeepTech, said: “We focused our search for new premises in Oxfordshire because we wanted to be located in a science and technology cluster, with access to skilled and professional workforce.
“To realise our ambitions and support for the critical global drive towards a circular economy for plastics we needed a location where we could build a long-term business.”
Joanne Churchill, property development manager at Hartwell, said: “Speculatively developing Origin and securing our first letting is testament to the whole team, consultants and our construction partner. We are in positive discussions for the remaining three suites.”
Hartwell had recently unveiled its £35m masterplan vision for Wootton Science Park’s next phase of development, featuring five new lab and workspace buildings which will total 106,233 sq ft along with amenities which include landscaping, a restaurant, a gym, and bike storage.
CBRE and Savills are the commercial leasing agents.
