Taylor Wimpey has bought a 15.6-acre plot of land in Bolton from Harworth Group for £8.5m.
The land at Harworth’s Stopes Road development near Little Lever was once occupied by Tarmac and used for the manufacture and storage of concrete blocks.
Harworth acquired it in 2020 and has since removed the manufacturing infrastructure and secured outline planning consent for the delivery of up to 132 new homes. It will reinvest the proceeds into its industrial and logistics development programme.
In an interview with EG last year, Harworth chief executive Lynda Shillaw said there was growing interest from national housebuilders in its land.
“In the first half of the year, the regional housebuilders were more prevalent in the bidding pool,” Shillaw said then. “Over the summer we’ve seen the nationals coming back in on a very selective basis. Housebuilders have been doing what they said they were going to do. They have been really clear with the market that it’s all about selective acquisitions.”
