London Square Living, the build-to-rent division of Aldar-owned London Square, has acquired a 350-home site in the Stratford Cross regeneration masterplan from Lendlease.
The site on Westfield Avenue, E20, was granted planning permission in November 2023 for 350 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes in two blocks of 13 and 34 storeys.
The apartment mix will comprise 272 BTR homes and 78 flats for affordable housing, with community amenities. The development also has planning permission for 3,670 sq ft of commercial space.
The deal is London Square Living’s second acquisition. It acquired the former Royal Mail site in Nine Elms in 2021.
London Square aims to build 1,500 homes for rent over the next five years.
Chief executive Adam Lawrence said: “There is a significant shortage of rental homes across the capital and we are committed to making a major contribution in the sector, a key part of our investment in delivering high-quality homes of all tenures in the capital.
“A good rental supply is essential to encourage people to be able to work and live in a global city like London and our project at Stratford Cross will provide young professionals and families with a well-connected development in a revitalised neighbourhood.”
