Hospitality firm takes council’s surplus space at Camden Town Hall

European hospitality group Il Bottaccio is set to create an event and co-working space in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter.

The firm has signed a 30-year lease for 51,158 sq ft at Camden Town Hall, WC1. It will pay a rent of £3.5m per year.

Il Bottaccio plans to create an events venue alongside contemporary co-working spaces that blend social and business amenities tailored to the local community.

Camden Town Hall, a 75,000 sq ft Grade II listed building occupying an island site opposite St Pancras station, has been home to Camden Council, which owns the building, since 1965 and recently reopened following a refurbishment.

Martin Olomofe, head of property at Camden Council, said: “We have completed the letting of surplus space in our town hall to Il Bottaccio Group, the deal is very good for us as it will provide a range of benefits to the council.”

Lambert Smith Hampton advised Camden on the letting.

Craig Hinvest, director for central London office advisory at LSH, said: “Lambert Smith Hampton offered project support from inception through to completion spanning a seven-year period with support from our central London transactional team, development consultancy advice, project and building consultancy advice, and property management services. This deal is aligned to Camden’s ambitions and social value priorities for the local community within the borough.”
