Newcastle City Council planners have recommended that permission be granted for the construction of a PBSA scheme proposed by IQ, a Blackstone-owned student housing company.
The decision will be made during the planning committee meeting this Friday.
The developer has tabled plans, designed by Ryder, to deliver 882 student beds across two buildings of eight to 12 storeys. A total of 72 cycle parking spaces will be provided.
The site forms part of the former Kings Manor Business Park located to the east of Newcastle city centre. Originally, the park comprised six buildings including five office blocks. IQ has already redeveloped Collingwood House. The Labour building, a three-storey office block in the south-eastern corner of the site is the only office building that remains in situ. The other four office buildings were demolished.
Quad is advising on planning matters.
