Planning officers have recommended that Manchester Council approve Renaker’s proposed five residential towers in the city centre.
The decision will be made during a planning committee meeting on Thursday next week.
The developer lodged two separate applications in January last year, proposing to build a 71-storey skyscraper alongside two residential towers rising to around 47 storeys, and two of 51 storeys.
Across all five buildings, sitting on a 1.2-acre site, Renaker will deliver 2,388 homes, which are expected to cost more thanr £570m to build.
The 71-storey tower, called the Lighthouse, would be the city’s tallest building and the UK’s tallest outside London, overtaking South Tower at Deansgate Square, also in Manchester.
The scheme will provide 642 flats and a three-storey office, alongside public and private amenity space, 216 parking spaces and 684 cycle spaces.
The second application proposes 1,746 homes across four towers and 13,595 sq ft of commercial space as well as 483 parking spaces and 1,746 internal cycle spaces.
The scheme forms part of the Great Jackson Street masterplan, designed by SimpsonHaugh, at the southern end of the city centre, where the developer has already brought forward residential blocks known as Victoria Residence, Elizabeth Tower, Three60 and the Blade.
Deloitte advised Renaker on planning.
