Summix Capital will this week hold a second public consultation event on its plans to develop 1,000 homes at Maybury Quarter Edinburgh, on the site of the former Saica packaging facility to the west of the city centre.
The former industrial location on Turnhouse Road spans 15.5 acres. Summix aims to deliver a mix of uses, potentially comprising residential, senior living, 30,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space and a 150- to 200-room hotel. The brownfield site is allocated in the council’s City Plan 2030 for residential-focused redevelopment.
The second consultation event will be held on Wednesday 11 September at Delta Hotels by Marriott, 111 Glasgow Road, Edinburgh, between 2pm and 7pm. It follows an initial consultation event which was held on 27 March.
Stuart Black, development director for Summix Capital, said: “The public comments received so far, along with other stakeholder feedback, have proved invaluable in shaping this development, and we would like to thank all those who have taken the time to input into this process to date.
“Our proposals provide an opportunity to redevelop one of the last major pieces of brownfield land in the city into a new, sustainable mixed-use community.”
