Internet firm logs in at Gloucester

Reef Group and Gloucester City Council have secured one of the largest lettings in the Gloucester region, with a German-based internet company taking 19,000 sq ft at the pair’s Forum development.

Fasthosts Internet, a subsidiary of German firm Ionos, has taken the whole of the Cathedral View 2 building on the £100m Forum, a newly developed cyber-hub in the city.

Dorian Wragg, head of commercial property at Bruton Knowles, which advised on the letting, said: “An office move on this scale is rare these days but perhaps also marks a move back to a more balanced workplace, a hybrid model in an area that defines mixed use at its best.

“Good design is not enough – new workplaces and living spaces must have energy, be vibrant and relevant. We saw demand for the best quality, best located, most environmentally sustainable buildings exceeding supply in 2023 and that will continue throughout 2024 alongside return-to-work mandates.”

He added: “This is another huge step forward in promoting the city and the region as an emerging digital and cyber security centre in the UK. Fasthosts will move over 250 employees to this one location, from existing sites in Gloucester. This in turn brings interest, additional investment, visitors, tourists and residential buyers to invigorate the city centre.”

The Forum campus comprises Cathedral View 2, the 80,000 sq ft Cathedral View 1, a 131-bedroom, four-star hotel, 43 flats, restaurants and shops and two acres of public realm.

JLL and Bruton Knowles are letting agents on the scheme.
