Masterplan submitted for Cardiff Peninsula regeneration

Plans for the regeneration of Cardiff Peninsula have been submitted to Cardiff Council.

Cardiff Peninsula Consortium was appointed as master developer of Cardiff Peninsula by the council in September 2023 and tasked with drawing up plans to revitalise the derelict land around the city’s International Sports Village.

The new plans will see more than 1,000 homes developed around the sports arena, along with a luxury hotel, an innovation hub and business arena with co-working space, plus cafés, shops, restaurants and a market square along a new high street and bayside promenade.

If approved, the regeneration project will be brought forward in six phases.

Planning applications with details for each new building and quarter will be submitted in the coming years, with temporary leisure uses, including a food market and padel tennis courts, proposed in the meantime.

Plans for plot 1 of the scheme – being brought forward by Orion Land and Leisure – were submitted to the council last month. They seek to transform around two acres of land currently used for parking between Cardiff Pointe and White Water into a 77-home senior living development.

Apt is masterplanner for the site. Savills is advising on planning.
