Covent Garden office to get fresh new look

Daejan Holdings, the property arm of Freshwater Group, has been given the go-ahead for the retrofit of 1970s office building in Covent Garden, WC2.

The 28,563 sq ft office scheme at 164 Shaftesbury Avenue, on the corner of Mercer Street, will see the complete overhaul of the building, originally designed by Richard Seifert. The existing structure and façade will be retained.

The proposals, designed by Child Graddon Lewis Architects, include a new entrance on Mercer Street.

The redevelopment also features a new ground-floor reception and extensive end-of-trip facilities, plus rooftop terraces providing external amenities with views across the West End.

The scheme has been designed to BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold and NABERS five-star standards.

The project forms part of an ambitious new programme of development from Freshwater and will be jointly marketed by JLL and BrayFoxSmith.
