Barking & Dagenham gets new director of place

Barking & Dagenham Council has appointed David Harley as its new strategic director of inclusive growth and place.

Harley moves over to the council from its urban regeneration arm Be First Regeneration, where he has been development director for a number of years, bringing forward projects including the Eastbrook Film Studios.

Chartered town planner Harley has a long-standing relationship with Barking & Dagenham, having worked in the borough since 1999. Prior to his time at Be First, he was head of regeneration at the council.

The council said that Harley’s “deep passion for art, culture, and heritage, coupled with his focus on creating employment opportunities, aligns perfectly with the council’s vision of inclusive growth”.

“His return marks an exciting new chapter for the borough as we continue our work to unlock the full potential of our borough and community,” it said.
