Barratt gets Rayner’s approval for 1,000-home Cambridge resi scheme

Barratt’s David Wilson Homes brand and the North West Cambridge consortium have received planning permission on appeal to develop 1,000 homes in Cambridge.

The scheme will provide a primary school and secondary school, as well as new shops, community facilities and a country park.

The scheme, which is part of the Darwin Green development in Cambridge, was approved by the housing secretary Angela Rayner yesterday.

The developers had filed the application in May 2022, and lodged an appeal with the planning inspectorate due to non-determination in January 2024.

The application had received opposition from the Environment Agency due to concerns about the water supply.
