Schroders Capital has formed a new leadership team to further strengthen its real estate capabilities and client proposition.
Nick Montgomery, who is currently head of UK real estate, will take over the role of global head of real estate from Sophie Van Oosterom, subject to regulatory approval. Van Oosterom will embark on a new role on the client side.
Montgomery has been at Schroders for 12 years and has overseen the UK business including new mandate wins and the launch of Schroders Capital’s Real Estate Impact Fund. He has a long-term track record of delivering outperformance for clients across a range of strategies including the London-listed Schroder Real Estate Investment Trust.
Elsewhere, Schroders has named Roger Hennig, who has previously led Schroders’ Capital’s real estate team in Switzerland, as head of continental Europe, based in Zurich.
Kieran Farrelly becomes global chief investment officer for real estate, in addition to his existing responsibilities, while James Macnamara will assume global responsibility for value-add and alternatives investments, building on his current focus as head of strategy, hotels and operating assets.
Georg Wunderlin, global head of private assets at Schroders Capital, said: “Our continued success is built upon a deep bench of investment expertise, guided by the clear vision of management. With a strong team in place, and with each promotion thoroughly deserved, we will continue to explore investment opportunities, with a differentiated proposition that consistently deliver superior returns for clients.
“As we flex our proposition to suit conditions in the market, we can ensure our business remains well-positioned for long-term success.”
Schroders Capital has $97.3bn (£72.7bn) of assets under management, with real estate business named as a strategically important growth area, managing over $27.9bn (£20.8bn) of assets across 16 markets globally.
