Virgin Media O2 will move around 350 employees to a new office at Maxim Park in Lanarkshire early next year.
It has taken the 18,335 sq ft top floor of the Maxim 4 building on a 10-year lease. Market sources indicated asking rents in the building are £18.5 per sq ft.
The team will relocate from its 40,303 sq ft base at Mercury House on Strathclyde Business Park in Bellshill, where the lease is due to expire shortly.
The move follows a search primarily focused on finding a site with amenities, a community feel, and that was located within a short distance of the company’s existing Bellshill office to minimise disruption for staff. Maxim Park is located just over three miles from Bellshill and boasts amenities and transport links.
Maxim 4 also has BREEAM Excellent certification and comes with cycling facilities and electric car charging points.
Patricia Cobian, chief financial officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “We are confident that Maxim Park will prove to be a popular choice with our employees who will now have a flexible space to work, collaborate and socialise together on their office days.
“Maxim Park is ideally sized to support our hybrid working policies and this long-term commitment is further proof of our property plans, which are helping us meet the current and future needs of our business and people.”
This will be Virgin Media O2’s second major new office space since its merger in June 2021. The company is currently preparing to move teams into a new HQ in Paddington by the end of the year.
