LSH on board for five-year Northern Trains stations management mandate

Lambert Smith Hampton has secured the property management mandate for the Northern Trains’ portfolio for another five years, having first won the contract in 2017.

The move follows a competitive tender process. Under the deal, LSH will oversee the management of property at Northern Trains’ 479 stations, in addition to providing leasing and letting advice across the network.

The portfolio currently offers around 50 vacant assets, from high-footfall retail locations to spaces ideal for community uses.

Paul Barnett, director at LSH, said: “It is gratifying as the incumbent to re-secure a long-term mandate.

“This is a diverse portfolio with enormous potential, and we are excited to explore new opportunities to bring new uses to underutilised assets and to deliver new placemaking initiatives across some of the region’s busiest stations.”

Northern carries approximately 100m passengers a year across a network spanning both sides of the Pennines, down to the Midlands and up to the Scottish borders

Current occupiers across the portfolio include Starbucks, Costa, WH Smith, Greggs and Amazon.
