Barnet resi scheme set for approval

Moxon One is set to receive planning approval for a 113-home residential scheme in Barnet.

The developer plans to demolish Intec House, a three-storey building on a 0.5-acre plot with a warehouse at the back.

Moxon will redevelop the site to provide two buildings of three- and eight-storeys, comprising 113 homes and 3,600 sq ft of employment space.

Moxon previously got consent for a 92-home scheme with 8,000 sq ft of employment space in November 2023, which would have delivered 35% affordable housing.

A second application was submitted in December 2023 with increased residential provision of 98 homes but with no on-site affordable housing.

Council members said they “would have been minded to refuse the application on the basis of lack of information relating to affordable housing, insufficient benefits to outweigh the harm”.

The current application proposes an on-site provision of 15% homes on a wholly low-cost basis and has been recommended for approval by Barnet’s planning officers. The council will determine the application in meeting later today.
