Revised plans for Liverpool student block set for approval

Altrincham-based developer SGL1 is set to get approval from Liverpool City Council to deliver a purpose-built student accommodation scheme on Fox Street.

The firm took over the part-built development, known as block D, in late 2020 following the collapse of original developer Primesite.

Primesite’s plans for the wider site, approved by the local council in 2015, featured 400 homes across five blocks. Blocks A, B, C and E have already been delivered, providing 220 homes.

The remaining block D was expected to create a further 180 homes but SGL1 reworked the proposals in late 2022 to focus on PBSA, seeking to deliver 138 student bedrooms alongside 1,500 sq ft of commercial space.

The updated designs were created by Keith Davidson Partnership, with Zerum advising SGL1 on planning matters.
