Former estate agent Kevin Hollinrake has been appointed as shadow secretary of state for housing, communities and local government.
Hollinrake was a co-founder of Hunters Estate Agents in 1992. Hunters has over 200 branches nationwide, including 30 in Greater London, with gross turnover in excess of £40m and approximately 1,000 people employed throughout the network.
Hollinrake was elected as a member of parliament for Thirsk and Malton in 2015 and in government held the role of parliamentary under-secretary of state in the Department for Business and Trade. Prior to this he was the parliamentary under-secretary in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Since July he has served as shadow secretary for business and trade.
Hollinrake’s campaigning activities includes supporting sustainable housebuilding across North Yorkshire, supporting farmers in the loss of agricultural property relief, and campaigning for the towns of Thirsk and Malton to have access to banking hubs.
