Fabrix gets go-ahead for resi-led Elephant and Castle scheme

Developer Fabrix has gained planning approval for a resi-led mixed-use scheme in Elephant and Castle.

The development will comprise 283 student beds and 23 affordable homes across two buildings of six and seven storeys at 182-202 Walworth Road, SE17.

The scheme will also include more than 5,000 sq ft of retail space and nearly 2,000 sq ft for community use.

The project will involve part-demolition of an existing building, Chatelain House, and result in the loss of almost 30,000 sq ft of office and retail space. However, the site has been largely vacant for a number of years.

The scheme was approved in a Southwark Council planning meeting yesterday.
