Dubai-based hospitality group Dutco Group has acquired Edinburgh’s Bruntsfield Hotel from Castleforge for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition marks Dutco’s second hotel purchase in Scotland. Last December, the company acquired Mar Hall Hotel in Glasgow following its owner’s entry into administration.
Align Partners served as the strategic investment adviser and will oversee the management of Bruntsfield and Mar Hall, with plans to refurbish Bruntsfield next year.
Dutco’s hospitality portfolio includes luxury properties in Dubai, Maldives and the Seychelles, operated under its JA brand, and hotel properties in the US and Scotland.
Castleforge bought the 74-bedroom Bruntsfield in 2021 from Queensferry Hotels.
Nelson Gibb, group chief executive officer at Dutco Group, said: “Expanding further into Scotland’s vibrant hospitality market so soon after acquiring Mar Hall reflects our strong belief in Scotland as a world-class destination. We look forward to bringing our vast hospitality expertise to reposition the Bruntsfield.”
Chris King, managing director at Align Partners, said: “Our aim is to enhance its offerings and ensure it remains a top choice for travellers seeking both leisure and business stays in Edinburgh. We will work closely with the Bruntsfield team and our partners to enhance the hotel while continuing to offer exceptional service.”
