McDonald’s and Starbucks have been granted planning permission by City of Doncaster Council to open drive-thru locations at Unity, Yorkshire’s largest regeneration project.
Located next to Junction 5 of the M18 motorway, to the north-east of the city, and spanning more than 618 acres, Unity is being developed by Waystone Hargreaves Land.
The project will comprise more than 3,000 homes, industrial and commercial premises, a new local centre and community amenities.
The 4,500 sq ft McDonald’s will be located on land to the east of Connect Drive and north of Unity Way, within the Unity Connect area of the development. The restaurant is expected to create 110 jobs and bring substantial investment to the local community.
The 1,840 sq ft Starbucks drive-thru will be positioned next to the McDonald’s and include four electric vehicle charging points. It is anticipated to generate more than 15 new jobs.
Both drive-thrus are expected to open in September 2025.
Andrew Johnson, director at Waystone Hargreaves Land, said: “Popular roadside amenities are a vital component in the creation of viable and self-sufficient mixed-use developments. We look forward to the new Starbucks and McDonald’s opening next year to provide a destination for employees and visitors, as well as benefiting the local residents of Hatfield, Stainforth and Dunscroft.”
