Green energy developer buys rights to build giant Manchester plant

Statera Energy has bought the development rights for a £750m, 680MW battery energy storage system project in north-west England.

Located at Trafford Low Carbon Energy Park in Greater Manchester, the Carrington Storage development is expected to become one of the largest of its kind in Europe once fully operational in 2026.

The project, which got the green light from Trafford Council in summer 2023, will be Statera’s largest consented battery storage development to date.

Statera Energy was founded in 2016 and has more than 1GW of UK projects operational or in construction. It is backed by Swedish buyout firm EQT Infrastructure.
