EG’s news agenda: What to look out for this week

Tuesday

Property developer Harworth Group will update shareholders on its most recent trading performance. Earlier this month, the company revealed drafts for an early phase of the Northern Gateway employment hub in Greater Manchester and said it doubled the number of residential plots sold in 2024

PPHE Hotel Group will also issue a trading update, covering its activity since October last year. The company’s most recent site, art’otel London Hoxton, which forms part of a £300m development pipeline, opened its doors at the end of 2024.

Wednesday

Retailer WH Smith is expected to shed further light on the future of its high street business, which has more than 1,200 stores across 32 countries. Most recently, the company has mooted its intention to focus on and expand its travel retail business across the globe, with a view to adding 40 stores in this segment by the end of the summer.

Pets at Home will report on its performance over the last months of 2024. Most recently, the pet shop operator committed to invest in bricks and mortar in a move to expand its physical presence across the UK.

Bristol City Council is expected to give the thumbs up to Deeley Freed for the transformation of the Galleries shopping centre. The developer has proposed to bring forward 450 homes alongside up to 750 student rooms. 

Thursday

St James’s Place will put out a trading statement updating shareholders on how it is continuing to navigate through an uncertain outlook for investors. Most recently, the firm has signalled an uptick of activity in the market.

Friday

The City of London Corporation’s planning committee is expected to make a decision on Brookfield Properties’ plans to build a 54-storey tower at 99 Bishopsgate, EC2. The scheme features 1m sq ft of office space, almost 13,500 sq ft of retail, food and beverage space, and a 26,000 sq ft “cultural pavilion” building to be used for exhibitions, commercial events and creative workspace.
