Plans for a life sciences hub in south east London have been tabled with Southwark Council.
The scheme, spanning 360,000 sq ft of science-related workspace, will be brought forward by the joint venture between Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, Oxford Properties, and Reef + Partners.
The proposals, with a GDV of £350m, include 245,000 sq ft of specialist laboratory facilities, across three new buildings, with the reminder of the space to be multi-function. The joint venture has also proposed to improve public spaces and infrastructure around the scheme.
Emma Kowsari, director of asset management, sustainability and development at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, speaking on behalf of the partnership: “Our proposals will make a positive contribution to the London Growth Plan creating spaces for research and development, attracting the best companies and talent and cultivating a thriving ecosystem to inspire Southwark’s next generation of scientists.
“We look forward to continuing conversations with local communities and stakeholders in advance of the plans being assessed and determined by Southwark Council later this year.”
