Brookfield life sciences spin-off ARC has teamed up with Imperial Incubator and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust to launch a co-working incubator lab.
Leap: Powered by Imperial Incubator will provide single lab benches so scientists with early stage concepts can access shared equipment, support and scaleup programmes.
Jim Stretton, managing director at ARC, said: “By combining Imperial’s research, our expertise in creating dynamic innovation campuses and our partnership with the NHS, we’re building an ecosystem where life sciences and health start-ups can thrive.”
The facility will be hosted at Refinery, a 150,000 sq ft lab and tech facility in Hammersmith, which has formally opened its doors to occupiers. The ground floor of the building, measuring 28,438 sq ft, will also be home to ARC’s own brand accelerator, Motherlabs.
ARC West London is already home to Kesmalea, Sania Therapeutics and Epsiolgen. It sits a short distance from Imperial College and Charing Cross Hospital, forming part of Imperial’s WestTech Corridor.
Suki Balendra, director of strategic partnerships at Paddington Life Sciences Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Collaboration is key to accelerating health innovation, and this partnership will be instrumental in bridging the gap between pioneering research and real-world healthcare impact.”
Graham Hewson, head of incubation and prototyping spaces at Imperial, added: “By collaborating with ARC, we’re reinforcing west London’s status as a premier destination for scientific discovery and commercialisation.”
Savills is the leasing agent on the scheme.
