London Tribunals, the independent adjudicator which oversees appeals against parking tickets, is set to downsize and move from Midtown to the City.
The City of London Corporation, London boroughs and Transport for London are required by statute to have a joint committee to oversee the appeals process. As a result, London Councils, the collective of local authorities in the capital, hosts London Tribunals through its Transport and Environment Committee.
According to an application submitted by London Councils for a change of use, London Tribunals’ lease is set to expire at its current premises at Chancery Exchange, 10 Furnival Street, in October 2025.
The planning documents add that a space has been selected for the adjudicator’s next location: the ground floor of 24 Martin Lane, EC4.
The 3,843 sq ft space will be smaller than London Tribunals’ current base, which it moved into in July 2023. The application attributes the decision to downsize to the “increase in remote and video appeal hearings”.
The move will bring London Tribunals next to London Councils’ offices at 12 Arthur Street, EC4, which it only recently moved into in September 2024, also in a downsizing which achieved “significant budget savings”.
