Maslow Capital provides £114m loan for London PBSA schemes

Maslow Capital has provided two development loans totalling £114m for two student accommodation assets in Walthamstow and Greenwich.

The two YourTribe projects will offer a total of 638 student beds and 10,600 sq ft of commercial space.

The funding package includes a £35m facility for a 224-bed scheme with 5,300 sq ft of commercial space in Walthamstow, as well as a £79m facility for a 414-bed scheme with 5,352 sq ft of commercial space in Greenwich. The Walthamstow project, known as St James, is set to reach practical completion in time for the 2026 academic intake, with the Greenwich scheme following in 2027.

Rachael Gordon, head of deal execution, UK & Europe, at Maslow Capital, said: “With London’s world-class universities attracting students from across the globe, the demand for purpose-built student accommodation continues to far exceed supply. Many students still struggle to find well-located, high-quality housing that meets their needs, and developments like these play a crucial role in addressing this shortfall.

“These schemes will offer students a best-in-class living experience, with high-specification amenities that foster community, wellbeing and academic success. This is the kind of accommodation students deserve, and we are proud to help make it a reality.”

James Rogers, investment director at Tribe Student Housing, said: “These exciting new developments in Walthamstow and Greenwich mark a key milestone in our ambition to become the leading provider of premium student accommodation in London. With Maslow Capital’s expertise and deep understanding of the PBSA sector, we’ve been able to structure the funding needed to bring these high-demand projects to life in two of the city’s most vibrant and sought-after locations.”

Advisory house Atrium ARE introduced the transactions to Maslow Capital and acted as the borrower’s advisor throughout the financing.
