Greenwich Council backs revised Deptford Creek PBSA scheme

YourTribe and Redington Capital have received a recommendation for approval from Greenwich Council for their revised plans to deliver nearly 600 student beds on Deptford Creek.

The proposed scheme will replace three 1980s office blocks with a two linked towers rising to 13 and 17 storeys. It will provide 598 student rooms, 35% of which will be offered at affordable rent.

The development will also include 2,400 sq ft of ground-floor office space, along with active frontage on to Creek Road.

The 0.7-acre site is located within the Deptford Creek/Greenwich Riverside Opportunity Area and the West Greenwich town centre.

Plans for the site have been revised multiple times following public and council feedback. The original proposal, submitted in December 2023, included a 20-storey and a 15-storey tower housing 700 student rooms.

However, in response to concerns about the potential impact on the skyline, the scheme was then reduced to 639 bedrooms.

In a further revision, the tallest tower was scaled back from 20 to 17 storeys, and the overall number of student bedrooms was brought down to 598.
