Time limit for referring rent increase to rent assessment committee
Assured tenants who leave it until the last minute to refer a landlord’s notice of increase to a rent assessment committee will be none too pleased to learn that, postal and other mishaps notwithstanding, “refer”, as used in section 13(4) of the Housing Act 1988, means “deliver to”: see R (on the application of Lester) v London Rent Assessment Committee [2002] 46 EG 199 (CS).
