Joint Venture submits application for first phase of Bristol Harbourside

British Gas Properties and Bristol Council have submitted an outline planning application for the 23,000 sq m (250,000 sq ft) first phase of Bristol Habourside, including a headquarters building of 14,000 sq m (150,000 sq ft).

The 26ha (65 acre) site is earmarked for up to 57,000 sq m (610,000 sq ft) of new offices. Lloyds Bank opened its retail banking headquarters here in 1990.

Joint letting agents for the offices are Chesterton and Drivers Jonas, who say they are in discussion with two organisations considering Harbourside.

  • The Harbourside site adjoins land which the Bristol 2000 consortium hopes to develop as a major arts and leisure scheme with the help of Millennium Funding and National Lottery money. In order to gap fund major infrastructure and development for the arts and leisure element, English Partnerships has recently joined the British Harbourside Sponsors Group.
