The Financial Times says a proposed Millennium scheme for Norwich, dubbed Technopolis, which will cost at least £79m, would disfigure the town. Sir Michael Hopkins outline scheme will stand on the site of the old city library that burned to the ground in August 1994. The county hopes that about £39m will come from the Millennium Commission. Only 30% of the 2.024ha (five-acre) site is for Technopolis. The rest is for entertainment, commercial and car parking.
