Three sign up for Taunton retail scheme

Marks & Spencer, Virgin Our Price and Waterstones have taken prelets at Lombard Street Properties’ retail redevelopment of the former County Hotel in Taunton, Somerset. The project, funded by Vickers Group Pension Scheme, is not due for completion until early 1997.

M&S is to take a 4,996 sq m (53,780 sq ft) store on undisclosed terms, but Virgin has agreed a rent of £135,000 pa for 275 sq m (2,950 sq ft) while Waterstones is to pay £160,000 pa for 599 sq m (6,440 sq ft). The lettings reflect £861.12 per sq m (£80 per sq ft) zone A.

Joint letting agents Fuller Peiser and Douglas Stevens now have just one unit of 99 sq m (1,065 sq ft) available.
