Development of Coventry University Technology Park moves nearer

The development of a 27,870 sq m (300,000 sq ft) Technology Park in Coventry has taken another step forward. This follows the announcement by English Partnerships that it has purchased the Parkside site from Rolls Royce for an undisclosed sum. Outline permission was granted on 14th March for the technology park and 235 houses and flats on the 13.76 ha (34 acre) site.

The Parkside site is bounded by the railway, Mile Lane, Quarryfield Lane and Parkside. Demolition and decontamination work is to begin in May. The first phase, a 5,574 sq m (60,000 sq ft) TechnoCentre which will front Paradise Street, is due to be completed within two years. The whole scheme will take ten years to complete.

The estimated cost of the scheme is £21m and a European Regional Development Fund grant of £5.1m has been approved. The project is a partnership between English Partnerships, Coventry University and Coventry City Council. A further announcement is expected soon.
