Bristol faces shed shortage

Central Bristol faces a serious shortage of new and good second-hand industrial space, according to Donaldsons. The agent’s research found that the shortage is most acute in the sub-465 sq m (5,000 sq ft) and the 929 to 1,858 sq m (10,000 to 20,000 sq ft) ranges.

And other uses continue to absorb land which could otherwise house new industrial development. “Nearly 4ha (10 acres) of land have recently been acquired by Mercury Asset Management close to St Philips Causeway, but it is likely that only a small part of the site will be developed for industrial users as it is close to the Avon Meads retail park,” said Donaldsons’ Mark Nock.

Wilson Bowden and Tristram Developments also hold sites in central Bristol, but there are no plans for speculative development.
