Over 50% of Rockeagle’s 8,361sq m (90,000sq ft) Festival Park factory outlet shopping centre in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, is pre-let as construction begins, says Ian Barbour of letting agents Markham Vaughan Gillingham.
Retailers have signed up for 17 units and another 14 are in solicitors’ hands, he said. Rents have been agreed at £161.46 per sq m (£15.00 per sq ft) plus turnover, and leases run for five or 10 years.
The centre, which is scheduled to open in May 1997, is taking shape on the 28.32ha (70 acre) former National Garden Festival site. Rockeagle is also planning a visitor attraction on the site, says Nick Hole, a director of the Exeter-based firm.
