Tussauds bids for Stonehenge visitor centre

Tussuads Group is one of four heritage companies bidding to build the new visitor centre for Stonehenge. English Heritage, responsible for the site, has shortlisted three others – Heritage Projects, the Imagination Group and the York Consortium.

The contract is to design, build, finance and operate a centre to cater for a doubling of the current 708,000 visitors a year. The plans will be considered under the Private Finance Initiative. They form part of English Heritage’s bid to the Millennium Commission to fund half of the proposed £68m Stonehenge Millennium Park.
