Rugby group will begin building a £120mcement works at its headquarters in Rugby, Warwickshire, next year with completion expected by the end of 1998.
It reported a 20% fall in first-half, pre-tax profits to £29m. Cement sales volume in Britain fell 8%, helping to lower profits in the sector by 32% to £7.4m. John Carr joinery profits were almost halved.
