Railtrack is spearheading a project to build a new station serving Heathrow at Stockley Park, about two miles from the airport. The station will link services from the West Country, Thames Valley and south west London,
Railtrack is working with BAA, Thames Trains and Great Western Trains, Hillingdon Borough Council and a consortium of local business on the project.
BAA is hoping the station will be operational by 1998, however Railtrack says it will not be ready until 2000.
